Multirate Schemes in Circuit Simulation

Many technical systems couple phenomena on different time scales and multirate methods are appropriate to reflect and exploit these different activity levels. Thus, multirate is to offer (close) inherent step sizes, while couplings are treated specially. For one-step-methods, the generalised mode of multirating incorporates internal stages for the coupling variables. Hence the method conserves the quality of being one-step-method. Focusing on applications in circuit simulation, multirate W- and ROW-schemes of order (3)2 were developed and investigated. Some method features and test results on the Inverter-Chain-benchmark will be presented and discussed.
